25 Years To Life For The San Jose Sharks

San Jose SharksMy friend Paul found an article that described playoff hockey as “hockey’s angrier, older brother that just got released from prison”. If that’s true, the San Jose Sharks look like a team that did time with Martha Stewart instead of Charles Manson. My opinion of what it will take for the San Jose Sharks to move past the Anaheim Ducks hasn’t changed, and although winning Game 5 was an improvement, it looked like it was only incremental at best. Winning Game 5 was probably the easiest win of the 3 remaining games, with of course Game 6 tonight being the hardest. I think it goes without saying we’re going to need the most monumental effort the Sharks have produced all season if they’re going to win this game. We also need everyone to contribute, not ‘defensive’ scoring one night and ‘top line’ another – the Ducks are too smart to adapt their plan mid-game. Finally, we’re going to have to see this effort for the entire game, no matter how long it goes on.

My take: playoff hockey is physical trash talking you back up with your hockey. It’s been a relatively quiet series so far, but if the Sharks are going to take this game from the Ducks, I expect to see a lot of brawling, cheap shots, penalties and special teams. It’s time for the Sharks to stop doing traffic school and start doing some hard time.

  2. Nabby said after the last game that the key to winning in the playoffs is the penalty kill. So good luck with the kill tonight and eat em’ up Sharks!

  3. and nabby was right because they have failed to kill two penalties and are down 3-1. Oh, and again Nabby has been lackluster overall, though he made a few strong saves near the end of the first and at the beginning of the second.

  5. Sorry to see that the Sharks’ playoff run is over. I wish the Sharks a very successful off-season and hopefully a much better playoff run next year.

  6. What do the Sharks and the Titanic have in common?

They both look good until they hit the ice.

It’s frustrating to see other teams, younger than the Sharks, have more success in the NHL. The core of the team stays the same, (Jumbo, Patty, and Nabby) because on no-trade clauses but I think we may see a different team next year. We are not completely broken. Remember before the Red Wings won two Stanley Cups back to back, they were the Presidents Cup winner and lost to the 8th seed (San Jose).

Let’s see what happens in the off-season. Have a great summer guys.
