Anaheim Ducks Back to Back Weekend

The Ducks played this past weekend in back to back games Friday and Saturday night. Friday night saw the Ducks in Detroit to play the Red Wings. They played a much better game than the score indicates; the Ducks lost 5-2. Giguere was in the net and although the score says otherwise, he stopped a number of shots. (I’ll admit I didn’t get to see much of the game – I had to listen on the radio as I was in So Cal traffic for 4 hours!) Teemu Selanne had 2 assists; Getzlaf and Ryan each scored their 20th goal of the season. It was Chris Pronger’s 1000th NHL game and I love to hear things like that! Congrats to him and I was happy to hear that his family was on hand to help him celebrate. I figure the Ducks organization will recognize that in front of the fans when they come back to the Honda Center. My undying thanks, by the way, to the stats people wherever they are – without them, I’d be so, so, so lost!

Saturday night saw the Ducks playing the Blue Jackets in Columbus, OH. The Ducks won 5-2 and Giguere really stepped up his play. As the Ducks need every single point, Giguere returning to form is sorely needed. (As of this morning, the Ducks are 10th in the West. 10th! ARRGH!) It was an exciting game - the jawing between Parros and Boll finally ended in a fight – with Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, and Scott Niedermayer once again playing hard. The whole team stepping up play was a good thing to see; maybe being in 10th (10th!!!) will spur them on. One can only hope….
