Anaheim Ducks WIN in OT 4-3 Against Vancouver Canucks

Anaheim DucksYes, I said it: the Ducks WON. WON! It was a pretty exciting game (better than Sunday’s game) and the Ducks WON! I don’t know how many more times I will be able to say it the rest of this season, so I’m stocking up now. I will also say that I have officially come over to the new guys side - Erik Christensen and Petteri Nokelainen played a great game!! Loving both of them right now, knock on wood. We had a couple of goals taken away during the game; Whitney’s goal wasn’t a goal as the puck didn’t go between the pipes. It went under the net, next to Luongo’s skate. I understand that in a logical sense, but emotionally, that really sucked. Later in the game, the Christensen goal was waved off, due to a penalty of goalie interference called on Getzlaf. OK – that one really, really hurt; there was no way that penalty should have been called. No way. Getzy was outside the crease; never touched the goalie. Wrong call. I may have settled for interference, but I can’t see how the refs on the ice could have even seen that.

Hiller was in the net and absolutely phenomenal; 32 stops and some of them, I’m not sure how he got to them. In all fairness, I think that way about most goalies at one time or another; Luongo had some great saves last night, too. But, Hiller is a Duck and one of my favorites, so I have to mention him now and again. (He’s especially entertaining when he’s at his most dramatic. One of my favorites: http://ducks.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?hlp=8473972&event=ANA458)

The new guys were very instrumental in this win last night and I am including Whitney as well. The Ducks third goal was given to Nokelainen, with assists from Christensen and Whitney – all three are new guys. My texts last night: NEW GUY GOAL. Easier at times. It’s nice to see them starting to jell and I am hoping this becomes a regular thing for them. Getzlaf seems to be coming back to his old self after getting his nose broken and not a moment too soon, I might add.
The star of the night – besides Hiller (IMHO) – was Scott Niedermayer and that OT goal!!!

Here’s the link in case you missed it:

Wow. He did it again, making this his 12th OT goal – still the most for a defenseman. This was a nail biter of an OT, with both goalies making incredible stops. In the end, the Ducks WON! Scotty pulled it out again, showing time and time again why he deserves that C on his chest.

One more time: Ducks WON!

  1. Congratulations on the much needed win, however my good friend ‘torturedkingsfan’ was NOT happy!

  2. torturedkingsfan? Oh, I love that screen name! I understand it as far as the Ducks are concerned…. well, the Sharks are next and I can’t see it going our way. (Did I just jinx it?)
