Pittsburgh Penguins

Big Win For The Pens

Last night’s game against the San Jose Sharks was a great game for many reasons. Of course, Pittsburgh was able to get both points after the lone shootout goal by Sidney Crosby. The game showed that the Penguins still have potential to play with the big boys. The Sharks played a very good game and I felt that the Pens were able to with stand the storm early and then come back with their own. Getting plays from people other than Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin is always a great sign too.

However, there is still a lot of hockey left. The Penguins are now tied in 9th place with Carolina, but have played two more games then them. Buffalo and Florida hold the 7th and 8th spots and are only 1 and 3 points ahead of the Penguins. However, Florida has three games in hand and Buffalo has two. The Penguins still have a lot of work to do to make sure that they are able to capture every point possible.

Sergi Gonchar was also cleared to play by the Penguins medical staff. With that said, it seems doubtful that the Pens will see him on the ice for another couple of games. There is no need to rush him back yet. His long term health is much more important, however I am sure the Pens are ready for his return.
