Brian Burke Leaves Ducks - Most Likely Headed To Toronto |
The Anaheim Ducks announced today that Brian Burke has stepped down as their General Manager. Burke is now free to negotiate with other teams - the speculation is that Burke will be hired by the Toronto Maple Leafs as their General Manager as early as next week.
Citing family reasons, Burke turned down a contract extension with the Ducks. Bob Murray, who had been the Ducks’ Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations, has been promoted to General Manager
Brian Burke will likely end up in Toronto. Why you ask? Money, for one, exposure because he will be at the center of the hockey universe. Ron Wilson Toronto’s head coach is a buddy of his. Of course nothing is certain yet but I’d put my money on him coming to the Leafs.
