Burrito Supremes and The Coyotes OT That Never Should Have Been
First off, I don’t want to look a gift horse in the mouth. We did win the Edmonton Oilers game 5-4 and we all got burrito supremes for hitting 3 goals. BUT we gave away a 2 point lead TWICE in one game and it never should have gotten past regulation. Even Captain Shane Doan was quoted as saying “we made it a lot harder than we needed to” A disallowed goal supposedly due to Ed Jovonovski and an odd slashing penalty from goalie Ilya Bryzgalov didn’t help the situation either.
The Coyotes started off strong at Rexall Place, having no trouble finding their way around the orange caution cones that Oiler Deslauriers calls his goalie pads. Incidentally those things are a beacon to shooters, bad idea. They scored early in the first period and managed a 2 goal lead in the second. Edmonton came back in the 3rd to tie things up but thanks to a tripping call on the Oilers, Shane Doan got the winning shot in OT to make it 5-4..bring on the burritos!
So, the Coyotes took the extra point and that’s ok by me. Incidientally, it was just not a good night for Canadians as the fans inside also witnessed Canada’s loss to the USA.
Next up on the road is the Vancouver Canucks and all signs from the last game point to a very physical and exciting matchup.
