NHL Expansion Team Near Toronto?

Admin Icon The conversation about adding a second hockey team in Toronto is coming up again. The guys on NHL Live (on XM NHL Home Ice) have been talking about it for the last two days. The argument is if the Southern California region can support both the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks, and the Tri-State Area can support the New York Rangers, New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils, why can’t the Toronto region support a second team. Why Maple Leafs fans should be happy is the other argument that competition should force management to work harder at producing a quality product. Unfortunately the latter argument fails the test in two cases: Los Angeles Kings and New York Islanders. But the counter-counter argument is those fans have options (not that a Kings fan would EVER go to a Ducks game).

Hockey in Canada is different than hockey in the United States so I’m curios if Toronto-area hockey fans could and would support another team. I think know the answer….
