Phoenix Coyotes On The Auction Block

Phoenix CoyotesOver the last 24 hours a “tentative” agreement has been made between current owner Jerry Moyes and the NHL for the league to purchase the Phoenix Coyotes. The NHL then intends to sell team to a buyer who intends to keep them here in Phoenix.

“It remains the NHL’s intention upon taking control of the Club to stabilize the Club’s operations and, as quickly as possible, to re-sell the Club to a new owner who is committed to operating the Club in the Glendale/Phoenix market.” According to Bill Daly’s statement on Monday.

Could it be a Cinderella ending for a team that has faced nothing but adversity over the last few months? We certainly hope so.

With their current winning record of 6-3 the boys are working harder than ever under the watchful eye of new head coach Dave Tippett. With every goal, with every win it seems to scream “take that naysayers!” And some of those naysayers are right here in the Valley with them. Local media has not shown support and the attendance at the games has been less than stellar. The Phoenix Coyotes are ranked last in the league in that area.

The sale could happen as early as November 2nd provided there are no objections and Judge Baum put his seal of approval on it. So, it is with bated breath and fingers crossed we wait and watch to see who can PROUDLY call themselves the new owners of the Phoenix Coyotes.

As for the boys…as always Go Yotes!

  1. Is there any local interest to buy the team?

  2. The only interest right now is a group from Toronto (of all places!) call Ice Edge Holdings. More on that to come..

  5. 13 years of a failed fan base is more than long enough.
Move this team to a venue where it’ll be shown more appreciation.
