Pittsburgh Penguins Mid-Series Update

Pittsburgh PenguinsWith three games in the books for the Eastern Conference Quarter Finals series matching the Penguins vs the Flyers, the series is led by the Penguins 2-1. Games 1 and 2, were dictated by the Penguins. They made the right plays at the right time and jumped out to a 2-0 series lead. However, yesterday’s game was much different. The Penguins came into that game and fell right into the trap laid out by the Flyers. There were a lot of hits and several fights (not seen too often in the playoffs). The Penguins let the Flyers jump out to a lead and when it looked like the Pens had came back to tie it 2-2, they gave up another goal and then a much worse short-handed goal which gave the Flyers a new boost of energy.

Game 4 is tomorrow night and I am excitied/scared for this game. If the Penguins fall, then the series will be tied 2-2 and will return to Pittsburgh. The problem is that all of the momentum will be on the Flyers side and the Penguins will have all of the pressure on them. As for Game 4, the pressure still lies on the Flyers. I feel like the Penguins still have a great chance at taking Game 4 and I hope that Game 3 was a wake up call for them.

Obviously, I understand that Philadelphia fans get a bad rap. Whether or not it’s deserved is a whole other case and I can’t prove either way. However, if I were the Penguins I would want to get out of their with one win so that they can take care of this series in Pittsburgh.

  1. I hope the Sharks can steal the momentum in Anaheim, a complete reversal of your series. I think your Pens will be okay, your team knows they can beat their opponent. My team, not so sure….

  2. I certainly hope you are right and I have confidence in this team. However, if Philadelphia evens up the series I am going to really start sweating.

I believe that if the Sharks can take this next game then they have a very good chance of making this a series. I hate to say it, but this Game 3 is essential for the Sharks. If they don’t win that game I don’t see this series returning to San Jose. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen. I just want to see a good series.
