Pittsburgh Penguins Set To Play Philadelphia Flyers

Pittsburgh PenguinsThe Pittsburgh Penguins have concluded the 2008-2009 season with another win. They beat the Montreal Canadiens tonight after scoring two shorthanded goals. With the exception of the two goals Carey Price played amazingly and Marc-Andre Fleury did his part as well. A great way to end the regular season.

With the win the Penguins (and the entire Eastern Conference for that matter) know who they will play in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Penguins will face the Philadelphia Flyers, however who gets home ice will not be determined until the Flyers play tomorrow night. If they win, they will lock up the 4th seed, however if they lose the Penguins will have the home ice. It’s time for the playoffs! Go Pens!

  1. Nice finish - I remember when you guys were 10th and the team made that coaching change. Looks like things have worked out for the better. And thanks for writing, I would have never followed the progress of your team if it weren’t for you writing all season. Good luck in the playoffs!

  2. sharksfan, I remember that time as well. I sat here thinking, wow what happened? The team looked terrible with no confident or teamwork. It has been extremely exciting to see the turn around, but it isn’t over yet. Regardless, I find that this season was a successful one for a team who lost so much during the off season. I have enjoyed posting here and look forward to continuing to do so. It has provided me a lot of inside information into a lot of teams I previously knew very little about and hardly kept up with.

Let’s see what this off season brings us!

  3. As I was quickly generating my post, I forgot to mention that the Penguins’ had recalled Miroslav Satan from Wilkes-Barre for Saturdays game. He did clear waivers and will be ready for the playoffs. The Penguins might do the same for Alex Goligoski, however he would most likely be limited in the playoffs which means he would probably do better with getting solid experience at Wilkes-Barre.

  4. you won’t hear me say this too often, but I would like to thank the New York Rangers for giving the Penguins home ice in the first round!
