San Jose Sharks Return To Port

San Jose SharksApparently the stories are true – road trips help. I guess it’s a fine line between the upsides (team building/bonding, less self-imposed pressure to entertain the crowd) and downsides (fatigue), but this early in the season it appears the latest San Jose Sharks road trip did more help than harm. Granted the Sharks are still 4th in the Pacific Division but at least we know the team can compete and no panic is required at this time. Let’s hope we can squeak another 10 points out of the next 6 games, this time at home.

And speaking of home I’m now experiencing some of the dynamics of being full season ticket holder. First is the ‘what could have been’ factor. When the schedule came out tonight’s hockey game conflicted with another event so I sold the tickets. And since Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin were both out at the beginning of the season I felt giving up this game was not too big of a deal. Well that event I had scheduled got cancelled and the Pittsburgh Penguins are 8-3-2 so there’s certainly a bit of ‘what could have been’ creeping into my mind.

I am however going to three of the 6 games during this home stand and it would really disappoint if they lost on the nights I went but won on the nights I don’t. I’m not trying to be a Negative Nancy here but I think it only natural that my conversion to full season ticket holder come with such thoughts. I am curious to see how it feels to go to three games in 10 days – since I live an hour away from HP Pavilion every game is like a road game for me…
